M27 Closure – Hamble River Elevated Section – 14 to 27 March 2018

M27 River Hamble Bridge – Joint Replacement

Kier Highways, on behalf of Highways England, will be replacing the expansion joints and resurfacing the bridge which carries the M27 over the River Hamble, near Lower Swanwick in Hampshire.
For the safety of our workforce and customers, the following closures will be in place on the M27 overnight, between 10pm and 6am (Monday to Friday only):

 Wednesday 14 to Tuesday 20 March (five nights) – M27 eastbound between junctions 7 (Hedge End) and 9 (Whiteley)
 Wednesday 21 to Tuesday 27 March (five nights) – M27 westbound between junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 8 (Bursledon)

During the closures, clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A27 for standard vehicles

and via Hedge End/Botley for heavy goods vehicles

– unfortunately we are unable to use the A27 through Bursledon/Swanwick for heavy goods vehicles due to a height restriction on the railway bridge.

Please be aware that these works have been carefully programmed but are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances – please check the yellow signs placed in advance at the junction for confirmation of the closures dates/timings.
