Responsible Dog ownership and control of dogs in public spaces
Important Notice regarding responsible dog ownership and
control of dogs in public spaces specifically Long Lane recreation ground
We have received a number of complains from residents complaining about dogs running free at Long Lane and that the owners had no control over them.
Public open space is available for us all to use but dog owners must take responsibility for their dogs at all times.
Can we please remind all out dog walkers of the following information.
It’s against the law to let a dog be dangerously out of control anywhere, such as:
- in a public place
- in a private place, eg a neighbour’s house or garden
- in the owner’s home
The law applies to all dogs.
Your dog is considered dangerously out of control if it:
- injures someone
- makes someone worried that it might injure them
Many Thanks for your support.
